First time Birding...

My husband signed us up for the Missouri Birding Challenge this month. When I say "us," I mean the whole family. Him, our three teenage girls and myself. He bought the hoodies and everything! Haha

Our middle child gave our group a name. "The Beaky Blinders." Good, isn't it? lol She's so clever. Here are some pictures we took along the way:

We made our quota of birds for the challenge all in a day! There were so many beautiful birds on the trail, but honestly, most of them were on our property and in parking lots.
The trail was nice, but we heard a lot more than we saw. Being beginners, we don't know how to call them out by their sound. Halfway through the hike, I lost my footing and fell. Yes...again. I swear, every few months I do this. UGH... It's going to be the death of me one day. lol I fell because I was watching the tops of trees to spot birds.
I had an idea for an art piece. Us on the trail, but zoomed out. You can see hundreds of birds hiding in the trees. We can't see them, but they can see us.

I don't want to draw myself falling, because I've done that enough! lol I'd rather just draw us as a family trekking through the woods and all of the birds looking in. This concept art shows you a little of my idea. This one will probably take some time to do, but I think it would be special.
Have you been birding before?
